Safeguarding Your Organization Against Serious Medication Errors
Wednesday, May 26, 2010 2:00 – 3:00 pm CDT

As hospital and health system leaders look to identify new ways of organizing care delivery more efficiently and improving overall value, such core patient safety issues as medication safety continue to be vitally important.  This webinar will discuss what hospital leadership should focus on to ensure the safe use of medications within their organizations. This includes utilizing external information for internal surveillance and the establishment of safeguards for the use of the anticoagulant heparin, one of several “high alert” medications that has gained national press for causing patient harm.  It will also feature a case study on how one hospital has implemented “smart pump” technology to prevent medication errors with intravenous medications, including the use of intravenous heparin.  This is a “must see” presentation for hospital leadership seeking high level recommendations for safeguarding against serious medication errors in their organization. A question and answer session will follow the presentations.
