APEx Awards Program

An excellent way to gain recognition in SHCA and in your profession is through the APEx Professional Achievement Program.

This program is designed to acknowledge and promote individual achievement of professional excellence in the field of patient representation/consumer affairs. The program offers recognition on three levels, Achieved, Distinguished and Fellow, in order to encourage the professional development of all society members. Formal recognition of your achievements can serve as a milestone in your career and contribute to the promotion of the patient representation/consumer affairs function in your institution, and in the healthcare industry as a whole.

Recipients are honored at the Business Luncheon held on-site at the SHCA Annual Conference and Exhibition.

I was surprised how easy it was to fill in the required information on the APEX application.  By going through the process, I discovered how much I have accomplished professionally.  I found it easy to complete as I always keep an updated file on my computer called "accomplishments" which includes presentations, professional development initiatives, positive feedback from patients, coworkers, manager, etc. Keeping your resume updated is also helpful as we should all do this anyways.
 
I have received the Achieved and Distinguished Member level and I am working on the Fellow member.  I encourage everyone to give it a go and you will be amazed at how good it will make you feel!
