Writing Contest Program
The SHCA Writing Contest serves as a means of recognition for our members. The contest was created to encourage patient advocates to document current best practices and programs and write for publication. Writings can be based on any topic that would be timely and of interest to a specified audience, such as career mobility, research, responsiveness to patient needs, and other topics concerning Patient Advocates.
Range of Subject Materials
- Significant contributions of healthcare consumer advocacy programs
- Innovative strategies for accomplishing change
- Field placement or curriculum developments
- Reports of research projects
- Career mobility
- Responsiveness to patient needs
- Best practices or research describing one of SHCA’s 9 Domains of Practice

Winners will be recognized at the Annual Conference and papers may be published in SHCA News, the Society’s quarterly newsletter.
The award recipient will receive a complimentary SHCA webinar registration and $50 SHCA bookstore gift certificate to be used at the onsite or online conference bookstore. The recipient will also be presented with a recognition award during the SHCA Annual Conference.
