Mission
Welcome to the Kentucky Society for Healthcare Consumer Advocacy (KSHCA) website. KSHCA is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to the advancement of healthcare consumer advocacy. We are an affiliate chapter of the Society for Healthcare Consumer Advocacy (SHCA) and the Kentucky Hospital Association (KHA).
Our Chapter objectives are:
- To promote continuing education for the improvement of member’s skills.
- To expand our roles as liaison persons between the patient and healthcare facilities through exchanging and sharing ideas and experiences with others.
- To increase awareness regarding the patient and consumer advocacy in the healthcare community.
Since 1981, KSHCA, has proudly been involved in assisting those working in patient advocacy in providing educational meetings, conferences, resources, and e-mail blasts to our members to keep them abreast of current events in Kentucky and nationally.
We hope that you will spend some time on this website and peruse the newsletter and society information. We welcome you to complete the attached application and join KSHCA. We will be happy to answer any questions you may have about our Chapter.

KSHCA Celebrates 30 Years!
In celebration of KSHCA’s Thirtieth anniversary, Ruth Ellen Stanley, founding member was awarded a plaque and honorary lifetime membership certificate at the annual KSHCA conference on April 15th. Ruth Ellen spoke to the group about how KSHCA was formed and her early experiences as Patient Advocate. After retiring from Hardin Memorial Hospital, Ruth Ellen began serving in a volunteer capacity in the Emergency Department. Thank you Ruth Ellen for your service and dedication.
